Texas was in our rearview mirror and Colorado was ahead! Five days of slowly waltzing across Texas was enough. Repairs done, tornado weather behind us, blue skies in front, here we go. Continue reading
Texas in our Rearview Mirror
The wind in Texas has been unrelenting. We stopped in Nocona, TX on Tuesday. Wanting to sit outside and enjoy the evening, we set up chairs and our small table, had a glass of wine and the wind about beat us to a pulp. This has been a crazy weather trip along with our repairs. Continue reading
Keeton Truck & RV Repair
Cody arrived at the designated time and he and John immediately went to work. They also got Laurie involved when they needed someone in the truck turning on lights, signals, etc. After about an hour the problem was diagnosed. Continue reading
Bowie, TX – Day 2
Mobile RV Repairman is on his way which means it will be about two hours. Not wanting to just sit and wait, we headed to Bowie. Yesterday we noticed Sweet Boy’s Diner and decided to give it a try. John had biscuits and gravy and we both had coffee. Continue reading
Bowie, TX
Bowie, TX was to be an overnight stop and then back on the road. The truck did not even get unhooked. There is not much to Bowie and even less to the Passport Park we are staying in. Getting ready to leave this morning we each did our usual walk around and then we checked lights. For some reason the left tail light would light yet no signal, emergency flasher or break light; yikes! No worry, call Good Sam Roadside Assistance. Yikes again; it is Memorial Day and no Mobile RV Repair is available. The best they can do is tomorrow morning. We also tried to locate someone with no luck. Continue reading
On The Road Again!
Hitched up, all secure, ready to go! Pulled out and the hitch is making an awful grinding sound and vibrating to beat the band. What to do? We have a 5th Airborne and the company had sent us a modification kit. It was installed, no problem yet the noise was deafening and concerning. Of course, it was Saturday so no chance talking with anyone at the company. So we did what we always do when we have a RV issue – headed to “Babin RV Park”. Continue reading
Tale of Two Markets
Visiting friends in Cecilia, LA meant shopping at the Lafayette Farmers Market. Upon researching we learned that Lafayette has two farmers markets, what joy! Being farmers market fanatics, we were all over this information. Luckily Saturday morning was a beautiful Spring day with blue skies and mild temperatures. Even in May, south Louisiana can have very hot days. Off we went basket in hand! Continue reading
The Changing of the Cord
Pulling up the day/night shade, you hear pop and the shade falls. One of the cords has popped; what now? That happened to us in the wilds of Mississippi. There just happened to be a RV service supply center in the nearest town. On our next trip into town, we stopped and asked about repairing the shade. The cost for repair would be over
$100.00. No thanks, we can repair it ourselves. We ordered a repair kit which
luckily came with a video.
Pecan Street Festival – Austin, TX
Heading to the Pecan Street Festival on 6th Street in downtown Austin…
Why is this festival on 6th Street yet called Pecan Street Festival? We found our answer in the history of Austin. In 1839 Edwin Waller laid out the Austin streets in a fourteen block grid plan with the north-south streets given Texas River names and the east-west streets given Texas Tree names – hence Pecan Street. The tree names were changed in the late 1800s. Continue reading
Austin, TX
Beautiful day, blue sky, warming temperatures…time for a road trip. We have been staying in Georgetown, TX and today was the day for a tour of Austin. Our friend, Mike, is a native Texan and has been an Austinite since the late 1950s and he was itching to give us a tour. Continue reading
