Hitched up, all secure, ready to go! Pulled out and the hitch is making an awful grinding sound and vibrating to beat the band. What to do? We have a 5th Airborne and the company had sent us a modification kit. It was installed, no problem yet the noise was deafening and concerning. Of course, it was Saturday so no chance talking with anyone at the company. So we did what we always do when we have a RV issue – headed to “Babin RV Park”.
Not really an RV Park; a very close friend who is a machinist with an RV Hookup on his property. After four hours and much labor we were truly “On the Road Again”. Unfortunately what was found was factory error – we had a misaligned part. What that meant was basically fabrication modification.
Thanks to “Red” and his knowledge we were on the road and feeling better than we had in the six years we have owned the 5th Airborne. What that also meant was we were beginning our journey four hours later.
We rarely make reservations when we travel, but being a holiday weekend we decided to play it safe and make reservations for the start of our trip to Idaho. On the phone canceling reservations and heading for a known RV Park just south of Shreveport, LA.
Country Livin’ RV Park is just off Interstate 10 at Ajax, LA. The park is small, well-kept and relatively quiet. There is a pond for fishing along with a resident alligator. The park is great as an overnight stop or for visiting Natchitoches especially during the Christmas Lights event. What was new this trip was Mim’s; a produce stand and small restaurant specializing in BBQ. This evening they also had boiled crawfish from a farm in Ville Platte, LA. Knowing this may be our last chance for crawfish this season, we headed across the street to check out Mim’s. Dine in or carry out is available and we chose to carry out and enjoy our mudbugs outside with a cold beer. We may be in north Louisiana but Mim’s can boil crawfish!
Now we must decide where to tomorrow…..
