Winds are gusting, interstate traffic sign flashing, Terry Bison Ranch RV Campground – yes we are exiting and stopping!
Approaching Cheyenne, WY, the winds were gusting to 50 mph and the flashing lights were alerting high profile vehicles to exit. Exit we did and stopped at Terry Bison Ranch RV Campground.
The campground is on the side of the interstate but with the wind we could not hear anything. Just trying to set up was an effort. Finally set up and inside we were rockin and rollin. The park has a trading post and many walking areas; we looked at each other and asked do you want to walk? We both laughed, opened a bottle of wine and started cooking.
We both think when the weather is nice and the wind is not howling, the park would be a nice place with lots to do. There is a train that takes you on a tour of the ranch, you can take a horseback ride or pony ride or fish until the lake freezes. There is a kid corral with rides and climbing items. Nothing was operating and we could understand why.
During the night, John thought he heard thunder, but no just the wind howling. In the morning, the wind was a little calmer, 34-40 mph. We did not see relief in the wind until we were west of Laramie.
On to Rock Springs, WY…
