On The Road Again!

PeacefulHitched up, all secure, ready to go!  Pulled out and the hitch is making an awful grinding sound and vibrating to beat the band.  What to do?  We have a 5th Airborne and the company had sent us a modification kit.  It was installed, no problem yet the noise was deafening and concerning.  Of course, it was Saturday so no chance talking with anyone at the company.  So we did what we always do when we have a RV issue – headed to “Babin RV Park”. Tale of Two Markets

FlowersVisiting friends in Cecilia, LA meant shopping at the Lafayette Farmers Market.  Upon researching we learned that Lafayette has two farmers markets, what joy!  Being farmers market fanatics, we were all over this information.  Luckily Saturday morning was a beautiful Spring day with blue skies and mild temperatures.  Even in May, south Louisiana can have very hot days.  Off we went basket in hand!  Continue reading →

Popp Fountain New Orleans

FountainBlue sky, mild temperatures – what a dazzling day in the city!  Outside was beckoning and we could not resist.  Riding around NOLA was something we had not done in quite a while.  It was wonderful to be outside enjoying the day and the city.

Passing City Park we knew we had to stop and enjoy what the park offered.  Popp Fountain was our first stop since it is open on Sundays for exploring and appreciating along with the new Arbor Room. Continue reading →

Water in the morning, on the grill at night – can’t get much fresher.

Fishing on Grand Isle can be frustrating, exhilarating, boring and exciting all within an hours’ time.

Cajun Corner Cafe

First decision, east or west side of Bayou Lafourche?  If you’ve ever driven in South Louisiana you know that for most roads which follow a bayou, there is also another road on the other side of the bayou as well. We usually drive the east side so today we took the west side.  Taking the west side, you drive through more of the many small towns while the east side is more countryside.  Either side of the bayou offers great views and interesting stops. WesMar Farms Dairy Market

The goats were staring at us through the fence, curious creatures.  Then we saw a group of people visiting; drinking coffee and eating fresh baked bread and sweets.  We must be in the right place – WesMar Farms Dairy Market in Moreauville, LA.

What are two Pescatarians doing at a dairy market?  That is the question we asked ourselves the first time we visited the WesMar Farms Dairy Market.  Never ones to pass up an opportunity to visit a farmers market of any kind, we ventured to WesMar to see what was offered. Continue reading →

NOLA Tropical Winery

There is wine and then there is Wine.  When I think of wine it is all the grape varieties that come to mind.  Sometimes I think of muscadine, but generally other grapes such as cabernet or merlot come to mind.  Needless to say I was surprised when I walked into NOLA Tropical Winery and was enticed by all the fruit wines available.  Throw common varieties out of the window and let in Mango, Pineapple, Cherry, and Orange Coffee to mention a few.
