The Warsaw Farmers Market, held Saturday from 8-noon, offered a variety of items. We specifically search for fresh fruits and vegetables. This market did not disappoint. Our purchases included tomatoes, squash, peaches and fried pies. Continue reading
On the road again – finally! After being stationery for more months than we could ever imagine, we are rolling again. Not only were we unable to travel, we have not been to a farmers market in over a year. All that changed a few weeks ago while we were staying at Paragon Casino RV Park in Marksville LA.
South Louisiana’s climate allows growing seasons all year long. No matter the time of year there is always something being harvested. The farmers markets in the area offer an array of vegetables and fruits on a regular basis. As we travel north, the farmers markets we find are generally seasonal. Friends accuse us of planning our travels around Farmers Markets and they are correct. As we have said before, we are addicted to Farmers Markets. Most of our weekly groceries are purchased at Farmers Markets and we enjoy the variety and freshness that the markets offer. No market is too small for us to visit because we always find something interesting.

Fall means college football and nowhere is there a better example than South Louisiana where a sea of purple and gold is seen on any given Saturday. Being in North Platte, NE for the first Saturday football game night in Tiger Stadium, we wore our purple and gold. Having to go to Zachary, LA on Saturday, the first thing we did was look for a Farmers Market in the area. Sure enough, Zachary has a Farmers Market downtown from 8-Noon on Saturdays. The market is two years old and recently moved downtown near City Hall.
