Dance, Listen, Sing Along – It is a USO Show

Dance, Laurie is all in; just tell her where and when and she will be the first at the door.

Riding around Vincennes looking at French Architecture and visiting the Red Skelton Museum, we saw a small temporary sign stuck in the grass. It simply said USO Show Tonight. Although John served in the Air Force for four years during the Vietnam Era, he had never been to a USO Show. We were ready for the experience. Back home, Laurie found the information on line and learned there would be a Big Band and dancing. Tonight would be a step back in time as we experienced something different. Continue reading →

Legacy of Laughter

Upon entering the building we could hear people talking, then chucking, some soft and some deep down belly laughter. Listening closer we heard people reminiscing about what they heard on radios or saw on TV. It was like stepping back in time to the 1950s.

Beautiful Place

Bike trails bring us to beautiful, scenic, historic and unusual places. Most are not intended; we ride for the enjoyment of riding. The end result is a treasure given to us and we relish whatever we find. Sometimes, that treasure is most unexpected and unusual. The narrow, overgrown path with tall grass on each side characterized this section of the Delphi IN Historic Trails. Riding our bikes along towpaths used by mules and horses which towed canal boats, for us, is historic enjoyment.  Being in this place, in this time period, allows us to picture the scene from the 1800s. Covered Bridges of Carroll County Indiana

Our lives are shaped by our experiences. Water & bridges are a commonplace occurrence in South Louisiana, something we grow up not even thinking about. The few covered bridges in Louisiana are mostly private with the exception of two on a National Guard installation. So for two Cajun’s from South Louisiana, seeking out a couple of covered bridges while traveling in Indiana was to be expected. White River Light Station And Last Female Keeper – Whitehall, MI

Lighthouses are prevalent along the Great Lakes. It seems there is one around every corner and that is okay with us. We enjoy visiting because each is unique and has an interesting history. Some are working stations and others have taken on another life.
