As we write our blog post, our thoughts and prayers go to the people of Texas. So much has been lost and damaged during the recent storms and floods including loss of life. Many places we visited were damaged and some are closed. It is hard to imagine what were once calm serene rivers have now turned into killer walls of water.
We began our day at the Lyndon B. Johnson State Park & Historic Site. The Visitor Center was our first stop where we received our driving pass and viewed a film on the life of LBJ. Then on to the exhibit hall with LBJ memorabilia as well as items from the German culture and Texas history. Continue reading

We were searching for good German food which eluded us (maybe three years in Germany had something to do with not finding what we were looking for). But take heart, this was Texas. Willow City Loop, TX
“You have to ride the Willow City Loop,” said a friend, “that is where you will see the best wildflowers.” We were anxious to see wildflowers and being in Fredericksburg, TX in April we knew the flowers were bursting with color. Only problem was this statement was made regarding motorcycle riding. Now we have a Dodge Ram 5500 and not a motorcycle – big difference. Once we were assured, BART could navigate the Loop, off we went and we were not disappointed. Continue reading
