Sunken Garden – Georgetown, TX

IMG_2966We were tired and ready to relax. Biking had been enjoyable but it was now time to head home and wind down from our adventure. As we were leaving the park, a field of color caught our eyes. Not one color but a rainbow of colors and it drew us; we had to find out what this color was all about.

What we found was San Gabriel Park’s hidden treasure – the Sunken Garden. The garden which was planted in 1967 is a project of the Georgetown Garden Club.

Originally the pictures of the garden were to be included in our blog post of the Georgetown Bike Trail. But the beauty of the garden deserved a blog post of its own. The colors speak to you and the smells awaken your imagination. The garden is sunken and when you walk down into the lush beauty, the world fades away.

Finding hidden treasures is always exciting. That is what happened while biking the Georgetown, TX bike trails when we came upon a field of color. The colors were vibrant in the sunshine and so varied both color and plants.

The Sunken Garden is truly a place for relaxation and time to take in the beauty and color of the varied flora.
