One of the joys full time RVing affords us is the opportunity to ride our bikes on a pretty regular basis, at least around a campground. Hailing from South Louisiana a hill for us is pretty much considered flat ground elsewhere. That means hills to others are akin to mountains for us.
We were camped at Lake Georgetown in Jim Hogg COE Park and just one trip around our camping loop was a huge workout. Not to be deterred, it was time to branch out. One of the first things we research in a new area is bike trails.
Once we reached the Hill Country of Texas we knew biking would test our endurance. That test began in Georgetown, TX. With all the Texas food we have been consuming, we need all the biking hills we can find. Georgetown accommodated.
The Georgetown Bike Trail covers approximately nine miles from downtown Georgetown to the overlook at Lake Georgetown. We rode the San Gabriel Loop and part of the Randy Morrow Trail encompassing approximately five miles. It was a pleasant ride with many park areas and interesting sights. Unfortunately the weather and time did not cooperate with us and we were not able to complete the entire route – maybe another trip. The San Gabriel Park Loop is hard packed while the Randy Morrow Trail is concrete.

We enjoyed our journey riding for a while then picnicking and then riding more. The joy was that we were able to stop along the way and enjoy the sights and sounds of the trails. These included children playing, ducks squawking, and people quietly sitting relishing the day.
Along the way
The trails have some hills that are steep and for us a challenge, but we were up for it and persevered. Hopefully we worked off some of the Hill Country food that we have been enjoying.
As each bike trail we ride is different, we enjoy what they offer and take away the beauty of the area for our memories.
