Ole Towne Cotton Gin

One more day in Texas – hopefully!  Texas is big and hot and we are working our way out of it.  For our last night we stopped at the Ole Town Cotton Gin and RV Park in Goodlett, TX.

The Cotton Gin was built in 1904 as the Coop Cotton Gin.  The Gin burned in 1930 and was rebuilt in 1931.  In 1970 the last bale of cotton left the Gin.  It sat abandoned until 2000 when it was purchased and restored with an RV Park added to the property.  There is still much of the equipment in the Gin where breakfast is served Monday thru Saturday for $1.00.

The park has 40 RV sites with half being pull throughs, 30 and 50 amp, bath house, laundry, and a small pool.  The Gin Store offers a few grocery items along with gifts.

The pool was a pleasant  surprise and enjoyment since the temps were near 100 degrees.  There are trees except they are still young  and small, so shade was at a premium.

This was a good one night stop with the added benefit of a pool and breakfast.

Great pics! Just completing my 2nd stay here as I read your review – spot on! This park is a great spot along 287, ideal for travelers out of Dallas or Amarillo.

Thanks for the comment Al. We enjoyed our stay even though it was triple digits at the time. The pool was a welcomed oasis. Hopefully we will meet along the road. Happy traveling.
