Leisure was the word of the day with ‘bike stroll’ being more accurate than bike ride. The morning was warm and the sky clear blue. We were heading south on River Road with no end, just enjoying the day and sights. Continue reading

Let It Grow
Farmers Market deprived, that is what we have been. On the road for four weeks and no farmers markets available to us. Anyone who knows us; knows we purchase most of our groceries from farmers markets on a weekly basis. Withdrawal had begun to set in.
Arriving in Cortez, CO we headed to the Colorado Visitor Center for information on local attractions. On the street corner we saw a sign for “Let It Grow” having fresh vegetables and coffee. Now we were really in heaven – fresh vegetables and coffee, on our way. Unfortunately they were closed for the next two days. No worry we would still be in town; add Let It Grow to places to visit. Continue reading
The Depot at Tie Fork, UT
Is this a train depot? That is the question we asked ourselves as we pulled off the highway. The sign said Rest Area yet the building looked like a train depot with a sign that read Tie Fork. Train tracks could be seen along with a water tower. We parked and headed for the covered area and we hoped picnic tables. Continue reading
Do You Believe?
The signs are everywhere, mainly green and odd shaped. Do you believe? Whether you do or not, you can’t get away from the aliens in Roswell, NM. Continue reading
Beaumont, TX Farmers Market
The parking area was packed with police directing traffic and volunteers assisting in the parking lot. The crowd was sometimes three deep and tables hard to see. This was our introduction to the Beaumont Farmers Market. In seeking out farmers markets as we RV around the country, Beaumont has an excellent start on a very active local farmers market. We were impressed both with the produce offered and the local support.
Clines Corners, NM
Heading south from Santa Fe, NM the landscape became more and more desolate. There was very little traffic and even fewer structures on the horizon. The highway was good, four lane at times divided; just not well traveled. We were beginning to think there would be nothing until we arrived in Roswell, NM. Then on the horizon we could see traffic and an oasis – Clines Corners. Continue reading
Galloping Goose
Sipping coffee and talking with Teresa, owner of The Pony Expresso, we were asked what brought us to Dolores, CO. Laurie answered we wanted to see the Galloping Goose and Teresa started laughing saying not many people come for that reason. Maybe not but we thought the Galloping Goose was unique and deserved a visit. Continue reading
The Pony Expresso, Dolores, CO
“The Pony Expresso – More than just a coffee shop….a bakery, a gallery, a place to connect, unwind and enjoy.”
Coffee is embedded in our Cajun Culture. We spent many an afternoon having coffee with our grandparents and parents. It was an enjoyable occasion where we discussed the day, learned about our heritage, and looked to the future. Now as we travel we look for those coffeehouses that give us that afternoon pleasure of fresh coffee and visiting. Continue reading
Sylvan Lake, SD
Sunday afternoon walk in the park – Custer State Park that is. Sylvan Lake is called the “crown jewel” of Custer State Park. The lake is at the base of Harney Peak and is surrounded by rock formations and ponderosa pine trees. Continue reading
Joe Momma’s Breakfast Eatery, Eagle, Idaho
Typical of family gatherings, there is usually too much food and the wedding festivities were no disappointment. After a week of one meal after the other, we laid off for a day and then just had to push the envelope. Breakfast is our favorite meal to eat out — we enjoy sitting with a cup of coffee and discussing the goings on and our plans for the next few days.
