What do you do when you return to a previously visited location?

As members of the C’est la Vie Camping Club, February was our month to host the campout. We were looking for someplace new, yet not too far away from the Baton  Rouge/Lafayette area. Clearwater RV Park in Carriere, MS came to mind so we
step out of the C’est la Vie box and planned a trip to Mississippi. Clearwater RV Park had been our home in September 2010 and having enjoyed the park and the area, we thought the club would also enjoy a visit.

Always an Adventure

McComb, MS – What happened to Kentwood, LA?  We generally are where we are staying by 2:00 p.m., but knowing we had only a short drive from Baton to Kentwood, we did not leave Baton Rouge until 1:30 p.m.    Arriving at the park in Kentwood, LA, we realized this was not the park for us!  By now it was 3:30 p.m. and we had no place to stay and no idea where we would stay.  Continue reading →

Tear’n the RV Apart…or, How to create a new Island Drink!

Carriere, MS – Up early.  Watch the sun come up over the pond.  Put up with the welfare ducks.  Fix breakfast.  Decide that we’re going to make a small repair to the RV – 10 minutes tops.  Of course I didn’t plan on the wall of the RV being a very hard surface so I had to drill a pilot hole, or moisture getting to the drill and not being able to change the screw driver to a drill bit in order to drill a pilot hole.  We found ourselves an hour later after our project thinking that a Blood Mary would definitely be in order.  This begins a search of the RV for Blood Mary makings only to be disappointed.  We decided that a Margarita could take the place of the Bloody Mary even if it was just 10:15 in the morning — hell; it’s got to be 5 PM SOMEPLACE! Ferriday, LA – “Great Balls of Fire”

What could possibly attract us to the small town of Ferriday, LA?  How about, ”Jerry Lee Lewis’ birthplace and drive through liquor store?” I mean, come on, how do you get close to Ferriday and not go?  Ok, so it was not just the drive through liquor store which attracted us, hence we began at the Delta Music Museum. Originally the Ferriday Museum, build to highlight the three famous cousins of Ferriday, Jerry Lee Lewis, Mickey Gilley, and Rev. Jimmy Swaggart, the museum is now a state museum.  All about music, it has a Hall of Fame honoring Mississippi Delta musicians from Memphis to New Orleans. Continue reading →

“Knock You Naked Margaritas” in Natchez

Vidalia, LA – Where the hell is Vidalia? Across the Mississippi River from Natchez, MS. Ah, Natchez – Antebellum homes, hooped skirts, Confederate uniforms, Southern grace. Yes, Natchez has all that and more. Yet one thing it does not have is an RV Park on the river. Vidalia, on the other hand, has River View RV Park which sits on the banks of the Mississippi River, just down river from the bridge. There is a walking trail along the river, no bikes, which is great for exercising and enjoying the view. Continue reading →
