Lunch by the Bay is one of our favorite things to do when on the Coast. Today was no different. We went in search of the perfect café where we could sit outside looking out to the open water, feel the breeze and enjoy the salt air. Only problem, the day was chilly and very windy; no sitting outside today. Continue reading

Carmela Vineyards, Glenns Ferry, ID
Carmela Vineyards where it all comes together – wine, food, and rving. After a week of family festivities culminating with a wedding, what more could we ask for than an oasis in southern Idaho? Continue reading
Houmas House Plantation and Gardens
At the end of the majestic alley of oaks was the plantation house standing guard over the grounds. Looking down the lush alley we could only imagine how many carriages had traveled to the home. It was not our first visit but each time we are amazed at the grandeur of Houmas House and Gardens. This visit did not disappoint; the grounds a green carpet of lush grass and the sun played on the water in the Fountain Courtyard. Continue reading
Street Breads of Baton Rouge, LA
On Saturday mornings if we are close to a Farmers Market we’re headed that way for the opening bell. We are also looking for breakfast as most also have breakfast vendors with the markets. When we’re in our home area of Baton Rouge, we’re pointed to the Red Stick Farmers Market. This morning we decided to look elsewhere and step out of the box for our Saturday morning treat. Continue reading
Brigham City, UT
The white spires against the blue sky could be seen for miles. The white structure sat high above the city and was brilliant in the sunlight. As we came closer, we realized it a structure of the Mormon Church. Not knowing much about the Mormon faith, we knew we wanted to learn more while we were in Brigham City, UT. Continue reading
Waiting on the Train in Brigham City, UT
Water was our frame of reference for transportation growing up. Living on the Mississippi River, barge traffic and ferry boats were seen daily and growth was along the banks of the River. Now that our wandering has brought us westward, we realize how important the railroads were in developing towns as the population moved west. Continue reading
St. Michael Catholic Church, Convent, LA
Leisure was the word of the day with ‘bike stroll’ being more accurate than bike ride. The morning was warm and the sky clear blue. We were heading south on River Road with no end, just enjoying the day and sights. Continue reading
Let It Grow
Farmers Market deprived, that is what we have been. On the road for four weeks and no farmers markets available to us. Anyone who knows us; knows we purchase most of our groceries from farmers markets on a weekly basis. Withdrawal had begun to set in.
Arriving in Cortez, CO we headed to the Colorado Visitor Center for information on local attractions. On the street corner we saw a sign for “Let It Grow” having fresh vegetables and coffee. Now we were really in heaven – fresh vegetables and coffee, on our way. Unfortunately they were closed for the next two days. No worry we would still be in town; add Let It Grow to places to visit. Continue reading
The Depot at Tie Fork, UT
Is this a train depot? That is the question we asked ourselves as we pulled off the highway. The sign said Rest Area yet the building looked like a train depot with a sign that read Tie Fork. Train tracks could be seen along with a water tower. We parked and headed for the covered area and we hoped picnic tables. Continue reading
Do You Believe?
The signs are everywhere, mainly green and odd shaped. Do you believe? Whether you do or not, you can’t get away from the aliens in Roswell, NM. Continue reading
