Vincennes Brewing Co – Vincennes IN

Walking the downtown streets of Vincennes on a sunny autumn morning brought many sights and sounds. We began our journey at the farmers market where the pavilion was alive with colorful fall vegetables and sounds of local musicians. After stowing our purchases in the truck we headed downtown in search of breakfast which we found at The Olde Thyme Diner (another blog). Along the way we passed Vincennes Brewing Co, “The First City’s Brewery”.The brewery has just opened and their beer was not ready for prime time. Although we could not taste the local brew there were many regional craft beers to choose. As usual Laurie picked the darkest strongest beer on tap while John went for the least IBUs available.

The tasting room not only offered beers, food was available so we decided to have lunch. We are very glad we did, the food was fresh and flavorful. Although the decision was difficult we decided to share an apple & gouda panini and a fig & pig flatbread.

The panini was composed of apples, smoked gouda, prosciutto and fig preserves. The panini was served with chips. The flatbread was made up of prosciutto, fig preserves, gorgonzola and mozzarella. It was warm and ooey gooey.

The atmosphere of the tap room is warm and inviting as was the food. We enjoyed our visit even though the brewery beer was not on tap. If we are ever in Indiana again we will return to Vincennes with fond memories, places to revisit and new experiences to look forward to.
