We visit as many wineries as possible, yet we don’t always write about them. The wines from this winery were good, but the setting and vineyard were beautiful. Maybe it was because the grapes were ripening or the drive through the vineyard was idelic; not sure why we just decided to write.Oceana Winery & Vineyard in New Era, MI, Oceana County, is just inland from Lake Michigan. It is a boutique winery using French hybrid grapes for their wines. Oceana is an estate winery meaning their grapes are grown and the wines are produced on the property. In fact, the day we visited, the grape vines in the vineyard were being tended. Oceana calls itself a boutique winery, ok what does that mean? In the simplest form, it is a small batch winery located off the beaten path. We think Oceana meets that criteria, it is small and there are no other wineries in the area.
Renae and Greg have a passion for wine. Greg makes the wine and Renae says she does everything else. The names of the wines are intriguing, many have music themes. We did not ask how the names came about, yet they have a nice ring to them. The names include Amadeus, Cayuga Jazz, Summer Sonata, Minuet G Minor, Red Rhythm and Michigan Melody.
The tasting room at the vineyard is small and inviting. There is also a tasting room in Muskegon located in the Century Club. We only visited the vineyard and enjoyed the location and atmosphere.
Happy travels and many adventures along your journey.
Fun to wear wine earrings from CAJUNVILLE.
