We’ll admit it – we are addicted. Everyone is addicted to something and we are no different. Every Saturday morning, our adrenaline starts pumping and we begin planning for our adventure. The excitement is even more if we are in a new location. Off we go headed to the local farmers market and our fix for the week.
We had shopped this market before but the farmers used to set up in the John B. Foley Park in downtown Foley. Today, we were headed to the Coastal Alabama Farmers & Fishermen’s Market. The market now has its own location, a large pavilion built in a way which allows the farmers and fishermen to back trucks under a covered area. It is now located at 20733 Miflin Road (Hwy 20), and is set back from the road a little but the large pavilion is easily seen from the highway.
It was a crisp fall morning perfect for outdoor shopping. There was so much to choose from it was hard to stay calm and make sensible decisions. Since we live and travel in our RV, storage is at a minimum and therefore purchases have to be thought through. After much consideration we purchased fresh made crab cakes, red fish that swam the gulf the day before, lettuce, satsumas, fresh tortillas, fall greens, eggs, sweet potatoes, green peppers and fresh bread. Did we overbuy? Heck no. We were ready for a week’s cooking.
The only thing lacking at the market was fresh coffee. That is another addiction. Enjoying a cup of coffee while shopping the market.
Another market, another successful Saturday morning shopping excursion. Now home to enjoy our bounty.
