What’s in a Name?

UT driveMost times we look at a city name and make an assumption about the meaning.  So it was with Snowville, UT where we made a stopover.  Thinking it had something to do with the amount of snow received since it is in northern Utah we could not have been more wrong.

Snowville, established in 1871 and laid out in 1878, was named for Lorenzo Snow a Mormon Apostle.  Snow had been assigned to supervise the development of the northern Utah Territory.  He later became the President of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 1898-1901.

The town today boasts a RV Park, a Convenience Store with fuel, two eating establishments, an international fish food processing manufacturer, and a Latter-day Saints church house.  We are staying the night at Lottie-Dell RV Park.  The park is on the west end of town and offers a driving range.  The sites are pull through, full hookup.  It is a very nice for a stopover.

Enjoying the Driving RangeThen there’s Mollie’s Cafe.  Mollie’s is one of those local eating establishments that are at once unique, but found in many places across the country.  Looking for a cup of coffee with ended up at Mollie’s with coffee and a big piece of banana cream pie.  Being a Cajun from south Louisiana, coffee outside of Cajunland can be iffy at best.  Glad to say, Mollie’s coffee was excellent – rich, robust flavor.  The banana cream pie was full of banana chunks with a rich pudding filling.  We enjoyed our visit to Mollie’s as well as our stay at Lottie-Dell RV Park.
