Four down and four to go

Today marks four weeks on the road and four weeks to go on our “Trial Run” to full time RV travel. It has reflected life with ups, downs, and moments of boredom. We’ve seen fantastic sights certainly not found in South Louisiana, met wonderful people (plus a few toads), and certainly have a list of places to see ‘next time’. We’ve planned on staying places which we passed on for various reasons, stayed at places we would rather have not stopped at, and sometimes traveled farther in a day than we had planned.

We’ve also been to Hell! With empathy for the people of Texas, our travel time through Texas during the hottest August on record in a long time, brought 100°+ each day the entire trip from our entry at Orange to our exit around Perryton.  Denver finally brought cooler weather and certainly less humidity.

We had anticipated writing blogs around planned stops and when our plans changed because of the heat, we missed those opportunities but gained others. We had planned on staying in a campground/drive in movie theater but instead ended up in Liberal KS to see Dorothy and her Oz friends.

At the halfway point we find ourselves in Custer, SD with friends we haven’t seen in two years yet picking up where we left off as if those two years happened in the blink of an eye.

We now plan our return trip with anticipation of a rodeo, a presidential library, more farmers markets, visits with relatives, and adventures yet to be discovered.
