IMG_4205Talk with locals and you will get the best and most accurate information. So it was for us the Saturday we ate and shopped at The Root Café in Little Rock, AR. In discussing the Downtown Little Rock Farmers Market with the young man at The Root Café mini market, he stated that on Sunday there was a farmers market across the street from the café. We were all ears.

The Bernice Garden Farmers Market is held on Sunday’s from 10-2, April to November. We arrived to a bustling market with many vendors selling varied items. There was everything from hand crafted items to flowers and much in-between. Our purchases that day were ground cherries, green beans, fresh garlic, braided bread, jam, and fresh pasta.

The market was lively, fun, and very local. The Bernice Market is what a local farmers market means to us. The corner lot is owned by Anita Davis and was purchased with local in mind. She pictured a community gathering place offering sustainability and a venue for local artists. Today her dream is reality including The Bernice Garden Farmers Market.
