Leesville, LA Farmers Market

IMG_3607Farmers markets are a special part of our travels. No matter how large or small, we enjoy shopping and purchasing from local growers. So it was this Saturday, we drove thirty minutes to shop at the Leesville Farmers Market.

Although the market was not large, three farmers, we were able to purchase some basics – eggs, potatoes, salsa, and Japanese plum jam. Our only regret was we did not purchase the large jar of jam. Yes, it was that good!

An interesting aspect of this market was the community gardens adjacent. Individuals can rent a space for $50 per year and grow their own produce, flowers, etc. The main requirement is upkeep – the grower maintains their garden and keeps it neat and clean.

While this Saturday the market was not large, it was still a great way to begin our Saturday.
